I know it's been a long time come and I'm sorry to all for the delay! The digital release of my book is now available at the InformIT website:
http://www.informit.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0321767950
The hard copy of the book will also be available sooner than I anticipated as well (coming between April 20th and April 30th). You can purchase a hard copy through Amazon, InformIT, and others:
http://www.amazon.com/Hands--Guide-Red-Hat-Exams/dp/0321767950/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1301840369&sr=8-3
As more sites make the book available for order I will add them here.
Thanks to all those that have provided feedback so far and good luck to all that are preparing for either the RHCSA or RHCE exams!!
Where can I make suggestion and submit corrections?
ReplyDeleteIf you are a member of Safari Books Online please submit feedback through their feedback program. If you are not a member we are putting up an Eratta page shortly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the book. I ordered it today.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will help me to clear the RHCSA exam and boost my Linux system administration skills.
Does your book cover the new RHEL6 objectives?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Only book on the market right now that does. It also points out when configuring something how it is done in RHEL5 vs RHEL6.
ReplyDeleteJust passed my RHCSA today mostly from using your book on Safari....thanks!
ReplyDeleteI pre ordered it on Amazon... Any idea when it releasing and available to purchase....
ReplyDeleteThanks for your time and support...
@debtninja - Congrats on the pass! Glad the book helped you out :-)
ReplyDelete@Ashu - The hard copy release is April 30th and Amazon takes 7 - 10 days to receive stock before they begin shipping the book out.
I have been watching it while it was a rough cut in Safari Online. Today I just checked and it's there :) I liked the contents and now scheduling my time to repeat those exercises. I would submit the feedback once I finish it. Congrats on such nice exam book.
ReplyDeleteOne question: The scripts are available (because i cannot access them altough i've registred my book)?
ReplyDeleteThks
Bogdan
Reading your book on a Kindle and was wondering where I can get the sample files from? Like the sample.spec file in the Package Management Section (and any other long files too).
ReplyDeleteThanks
I get the hard copy of your book and read almost 50 pages in 2 days :) This book is awesome..
ReplyDeleteI just want to check that do you have any idea that how do i install red hat linux on my laptop (Sony vaio) to practice further chapters....?
Thanks for your time and support.
All the scripts and sample files are coming. They will be available via a sourceforge page that I have created.
ReplyDeleteI have read your book and find parts confusing. Such as when you create RHEL01. Why create it, just to have to recreate it. Also in the recreation process on Virtualbox, you don't explain how or why you are creating the 4 drives, unless I'm really missing something. Also, on my copy of RHEL 6, when I go to reboot and go to level 1, passwd root does not work. I have to turn off SELinux in order to change any password (passwd) in level 1. Can you explain what I'm missing?
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteBought your book, need the scripts to practice. Pls
Where's ther errata webpage and pdf? THe book is full of errors and is in desperate need of an errrata. Also, where's the tgz you referrence in the book? IT's not on sourceforge as you say. Dear author, please give this book the attention it needs now!
ReplyDeleteOn page 57 of your book the Real-World Tip states that the "shutdown now" command places the system into maintenace mode.
ReplyDeleteFurther on the same page you state that the "shutdown now" command is used to turn the system off.
When are you going to post an errata page somewhere to highlight errors like this?
On page xxviii in your lab setup you use 384Mb RAM per lab system.
ReplyDeleteRed Hat recommends a minimum of 512Mb RAM for a RHEL6 installation (see http://www.redhat.com/rhel/compare/)
When are you going to post your errata page?
I would like to add that I am personally doing ok with the book. And not so worried about how much RAM Red Hat recommends, against what the book states to set up a lab. If you're so worried about, then adjust the memory according to how much you have on your system and quit crying. However, I would too like to be able to receive an updated copy of the book since I purchased the PDF electronic version. Can you please comment on the errata page or updated PDF and where can we obtain it? - Thank you!
